First photos on tPF

[Just me]

Brand, spanking new member, but inspired by the positive feedback and encouragement by members. I did as instructed and went out today to shoot photos. I love the fall, love the colors and light that this season provides and feel lucky to live in a rural area. My camera and I went out for some "bonding" today. Would love to hear constructive feedback but please be gentle.. I have NO clue what I'm doing. LOL Did some basic photo shop, but basically just a bit of cropping and "sharpening" as I'm not experienced at editing either, LOL
I've created an album but am unsure how to transfer photos to this post... or do I even have to? Sorry, I wasn't kidding when I said I was a newbie. LOL

Coaching I would offer is to pick a focal point for the scene and make that standout. The dogs, for instance, are cute and well focused but on a very busy background so they don't standout as the focal point they just kind of are swallowed up by the busy background.

Much too heavy a hand on the saturation, tone that down a great deal.
Keep horizons level unless there is an artistic reason for the tilt.
Do your sharpening at 100% size so you can see these halos start to develop - and then stop and cut back a bit.
Huge ugly halos are the sign of toooooo much sharpening.
