First Photoshoot. advice?

The white balance is off in #1 so he looks a bit green.

The lighting is flat, which hurts the separation of the subject from the background (no 'pop').

Shoulders square, or perpendicular, to the camera is pretty boring.

Shooting kids can be tough, unless they can take direction.

Here are a couple shots from my first photoshoot of my sisters kids. Let me know what you think.

Like KmH said, definitely try to put some angles on your frame. It could just be the compression, but I am a bit distracted by the artifacts in your "bokeh"

Since this was a planned shoot, try get your subject in some clothes that work better with your background, or change the background. (in this case, aside from the color conflict, the shirt is too "busy" for the background)

Generally speaking: with busy clothes, use a plain background...or vise versa, of course.

Colorful clothes often add a cast of their color to a subjects face, which can be very difficult to edit.

White clothes can often reflect light somewhere you don't want it (neck, under chin), and can make setting the exposure an adventure.
