First Pics...My dog!!

This is my first post and I'm looking forward to what you all think...good or bad. My husband likes the one of just his face better, but I like the other one. What do you think, and what could I do better? =)

Love the second shot! The dog's expression is excellent and great DOF.

The first has nice colours and shows some of the dog's action, but with the plant and the background it is a bit busy, which takes away from the dog.

This does not happen in the second, which I why I go with your husband and say I like that one better. Scene, framing, expression, and DOF all perfect.
