Here is another practice shoot I did of a newborn, 7days old. Just trying to improve so I thought I would put it out there! Thanks for looking.

I'm a noob so take what I say with a grain of salt. I like the shot of the baby but I personally don't like all the empty space around it. The baby is small compared to the background. Maybe a tighter crop? Just my opinion and I'm a newbie

This is my edit. It still has some extra background and I tried to keep to the rule of thirds as you had it.

I like the pose, but IMHO you should have over him/her a little more. I think that angle would have been better. I'm not sure about your B&W conversion here, something seems a bit off. I think the baby is too grey.

Thank you MTVision , you are right this crop does look better! Also mc1979 I have been working on a better conversion but I can't seem to get it right. any suggestions?

I don't like how the baby looks fake. One of the best thing with newborns is how sweet and tender they look naturally. Yes there are going to be flaws that have to be taken out but not to the point the baby looks fake.
