First portrait attempt CC please!

This was my first try with a lighting kit and someone actual posing for me. I didn't have a tripod so there a bit soft. CC please.

Good, but one thing I don't like is the eyes in 2 could use a tad more light...

Number 3 though...her eyes are totally black...not something I'd want.

1: Part of me likes the shallow DOF and part of me wishes there was a lot more DOF. It's a good profile, in my opinion.

2: That looks like some pretty harsh lighting to me. There are several blownout places. Great photo otherwise.

3: The girl has a great expression, but the shadows on the woman's face bother me. Also, the girl's face is almost lost in the background due to more harsh lighting.

4: Definately a keeper, in my opinion. Both have natural-looking expressions and you can tell they really care about each other.

Overall, nice series. 1, 2, and 4 are all really good.

I think that the shadows are going to give you a problem in the end. Especially on the 2nd and 3rd ones. There are ways to use a single light setup, create a dramatic shadow and still keep some of the details.
