If I recall correctly, when I joined I couldn't link a photo either until I made 5 posts. I also recall a couple others since me that needed to make 5 posts to link photos.

My first post was the other day and I linked my photos from photobucket.

This is a problem currently being discussed in another thread. The sticky is rather outdated. Referring people to the sticky is about worthless. Members are currently pushing to have the sticky updated so it actually tells you how to upload pics with this iteration of the board.
