So I'm new to the forum, but I'm not new to photography.
I mainly do sports photography, such as BMX, motocross, and skating.

Please don't be shy about reading the descriptions of each section and posting in the appropriate area.

For example: "Beyond the Basics Have you been at photography for awhile? This is the forum for more advanced discussion of photography, such as exposure methods, lighting, and other techniques and controls!" This is not the CC area, please post in the proper areas in the future.

Second, when asking for critique, post 1-2 MODERATE sized pics. 6 pictures at 1024 X 768 are hell to bring up on screen for people with slower internet connections.

Third... are you looking for a pat on the back or specific kind of critique? Technical, artistic... it helps to be clear.

Jerry. I think he is just introducing himself and showing us what type of stuff he normally shoots. I personally like that he's thrown some shots in here because he is really good and not a "beginner" like most of the new members are.....or maybe you were saying some of that since he should have posted this in the welcomes and introduction instead of in here....who knows...I have such a hard time interpreting posts sometimes

I look forward to seeing more of what you post and it definitely looks like you know your way around your camera pretty well.

Pretty ordinary stuff if that is what the OP is offering for critique.

That's why we have moderators. If nobody is going to step up to the plate and handle the moderation (which they generally do) then someone who is willing should request moderator status so that they can actually perform the job

well on a more critique note. I love the last shot. I'm thinking a bit longer of an exposure and zooming out while taking it? I think its an amazing shot and really forces your eye to hone in on the rider, GREAT TECHNIQUE i love it.

Do you get yelled at a lot when you ride in the backseat of someone's car? I expect you do.

Only if they cannot drive, then I have no issues telling them to go take the bus. But since I own vehicles of my own, I have not sat in the back seat of anyone's car since 1976 (and that was my last time in a vehicle with me not driving... my last day in highschool when the bus driver drove me to my bus stop).

Now... what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Hey Nate I was not being rude or abrupt...

But he's asking for CC some kind. This is not the CC forum, and I do not think I was rude in any way shape or form to politely let the OP know this.

It is just bad form to ask for CC in the Beyond the Basics forum when there are areas dedicated to that.

It is also bad manners to post large pics that make downloading/viewing difficult for people with slow internet connections.

Thirdly when looking for CC it is general considered good form to limit yourself to 1-2 pics.

His post also had nothing to do with "advanced discussion of photography, such as exposure methods, lighting, and other techniques and controls".

Finally, I did welcome the gent.

ROFL... if I did not care about this place I would not say anything. If more people hand held some of the new ones, this place would improve.

And I personally think that there is a HUGE difference between telling someone they are a dolt and cannot read vs telling them that there are a few easy rules of etiquette that should be followed to make the whole experience better here FOR EVERYONE.

It's always easiest to decide for ourselves the impression we give others.

I agree, however we are not talking about about impressions, we are talking about making this place better. That is done by participating and also reminding those people at the same time that it is easy to place your post in the proper area, nothing more.

Also, I would not be so quick to judge. If we went out and counted the number of "helpful" posts I've done vs yours... well, I suppose you have an answer to that too. Oh well... thats ok.
