Here is a picture I took today of my wife and daughter. I know the rim light looks a little blown out, but I still like it!

Canon 5d mkIII, canon 70-200 2.8 is II, 430EX II on camera right diffused with a Cocoa Powder Almond container.

Great picture. The expressions are awesome. I don't mind the bright light, I think it fits this picture very well.

The expressions here are priceless, so much love and fun! I don't mind the rim light. You might want to consider the composition a little - crop it square to remove the bottom of your wife's shirt, and let the viewer focus in on the important stuff like those beautiful smiles. Just a suggestion.

crop it square = totally good idea

Like Terri said, the bottom is excess.
I think it is too bright and slightly undersaturated and slightly cold.
Also darkened the periphery a bit

I actually have a horizontal picture I took with the same composition and cropped it square-ish haha. Thanks for the CC...when I'm at a computer I'll post the other image.


As for the saturation... I don't like playing with that too much ha..I.was also user the impression it may have been a little too warm..

Here is the other photo... I actually didn't crop it more than just cutting out a bit of blown out sky on the top that was coming through the bushes.

I like the expressions a lot too, but I think the baby's face is getting lost in the background. Not enough separation.

I like the first one...just need a bit of crop. The second one I agree with Jim above.
