Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Ok so the snow finally melted and I got back out there this past weekend. I think the shoot went very well considering this was my first time using my new soft box outdoors. I hope you like the pics :)

Now it could be me on my noncalibrated laptop atm but these all look just a bit underexposed.

hmm they look fine on my monitor... maybe im the one that needs calibrating

How are you calibrating your monitor?

Issues I see on mine (LCD calibrated w/ Spyder 2)

1. Blown highlights on the t-shirt, no detail in black shirt, heavy shadow behind her head.

2. Excessive shadow on right side of her face, 1 stop too hot on left, blown white on t-shirt.

3. Overall, about 2 stops under and right side of face totally obscured by shadow.

5, 7. Blown whites in t-shirt, raccoon eyes.

I use a X-Rite EODIS2 maybe I need to upgrade... thanks for the advice though I will have to recalibrate my monitor and try to fix these

Check the histograms of the orginal files to see if they're showing blown highlights or excessive shadow. Your monitor may be fine, it simply be something that escaped processing un-noticed.

I have never worked with histograms before but I will give it a try. I have all of the photos in .raw format do you think I can save them? Luckily it is just my niece and not someone who paid me.

I'm seeing exposure and white balance problems. Also shadow and background issues. I think you have decent poses going on, but you might need to work on the other stuff a bit. Thanks for sharing.

Ok I fixed some of the over exposure with this one. Does it look any better?

Hey, you might want to give this video a watch. Chris Burfoot knows what he's doing. He might not be the Bokeh king or anything but his tips really helped me dial in my outdoor flash technique. As far as editing goes, less it more in my opinion. You want to be able to see as much detail in the blacks and whites as possible. A little contrast or saturation tweaks should be all you need, as well as color correction. Practice makes perfect and I practiced on a hundred trees before I shot a real person, don't be afraid to shoot everything and anything! :)

Nice, but I've always wondered about "senior" shoots. Why, in the US do teenagers of a certain age all have photoshoots? What is it actually for? I see senior shoots all over Flickr, but have never really known what they are!

Hi Tyler,
It' one of those "rights of passage" things here in the states. Who cares? It's money. :-) Happy Dance!
