First timephotographing a person

My first post here of hopefully many!

This is the first time I actually used all of my gear and photographed for a friend. I mainly do skateboarding and action sports photography so this was a huge change of pace. I would appreciate any and all critiques.

nicely done accordin to me, but u will receive several comment about orientation of portrait instead of landscape, empty space left ( viewer sight ) lolz. but i like it, picture are sharp according to my sight, did you use additional lighting ? if this indoor shoot, could you tell me the setting ? when i shoot indoor, i always oof, and underxposure, etc.

Well done. The space to the left is appropriate as the pose has a strong flow to that side. The shirt is not particularly flattering, and she doesn't strike me as holding the camera in a way that suggests she's comfortable with a camera, it feels like a prop in a posed setup (which I think it IS, so, ok) not a natural thing.

But still, strong photograph. Nicely conceived and posed, technical details all pretty much there. I like the catchlight, good attention to detail there.

The shirt is not particularly flattering, and she doesn't strike me as holding the camera in a way that suggests she's comfortable with a camera, it feels like a prop in a posed setup (which I think it IS, so, ok) not a natural thing.

But still, strong photograph. Nicely conceived and posed, technical details all pretty much there. I like the catchlight, good attention to detail there.

i like the landscape as well, especially with her arm sticking out to the side. I think this shot would have been too tight in portrait.
the shirt is definitely unflattering. maybe go with something low cut and strapless next time.

Thank you! I shot a few portrait but I didn't really like how tight it was so I did it landscape. I did this photo to experiment with lighting in my dorm room. I didn't use a backdrop or anything so I found a clean wall, used one flash to get some light on the wall, another to light her from camera left, and another one camera right to bring out her face a little

I like this shot.. however I think a fill light was needed for the part of her face that was in shadow.. also the skin right under her chin peeking through her shirt.. looks to be the exact same color of the wall to the left.. so it's making her face/chin look like it was photoshopped onto the body a little.

I do think its a great shot at portrait photography, those are just my comments.
