First use of new camera portrait of other half

hope link works, but this is a picture of first few I taken since I got my new camera. I'm a beginner so any tips and advice is welcome. I'm no currently using the Canon 1000D

From what I see, I'd say try a different crop. You have cut off the top of her head, her shoulder, and her elbow. I'm also seeing yellow patches on her skin. You can see them on the corners of her mouth and eyes. Eyes are beautiful though very blue. might toy around with it to bring out the eyes and correct some skin blemishes. To give you an idea I've edited it a little to bring out the eyes, got rid of some of the yellow and removed the blue of her bra. All those things were distraction IMO. Next time try different shooting angles might get an interesting new perspective. Maybe more eye level. I'm new to portraits myself, so my opinion is strictly from what I observe off the top of my head. Take it with a grain of salt. Keep posting, bound to learn something!

thanks it will all be kept in mind, just wondering what software did you use to do all the editing that you did on the photo.
