Can others edit my Photos

Hi All!

I just got my Canon 15mm fisheye lens. I want to use it as ultra wide angle lens. How can I correct the fish distrotion so the image appears to be a wide angle. I have Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom...how can I do this on this software?

Many thanks!!!

But do you realize how much of the image you are going to lose, correcting the distrotion?

That is right. When composing vertical stuff with my 12-24mm, I must remember to leave plenty of room to not cut stuff off when correcting in photoshop. I can imagine you'll lose quite a bit correcting for barrel distortion as well as the verticals, so your field of view on end result won't be equal to 15mm.

Alternatively, you can use the equivalent distortion correction functions in Lightroom.

You can find an example of the degree of image loss you might expect at the following webpage:

Fisheye to Rectilinear Conversion - photo.net

In addition to the loss of a sizable portion of the scene, of course, you will obviously also lose quite a few megapixels worth of resolution (potentially decreasing the usability of the photo). In addition, the degree to which the data needs to be stretched to achieve a low- or no-distortion look will tend to slightly degrade the quality of the final, distortion-corrected version of the image.

If you require an image that has minimal distortion, I would sacrifice the extra field-of-view afforded by the fisheye and go with a rectilinear lens instead. Though, I'm not sure if that's an option given the type of shots you're trying to get.
