Okay I know this is played out and all that, but being at college and playing soccer I haven't had much time to get out and take pictures. So I found a lighter and tried taking a neat picture. This is what I envisioned it would look like. However, I'm not sure if there are things that could have been done to make it look better?

To be honest, it doesn't strike me as very exciting, BUT if you were able to successfully execute your vision, that is a very good thing indeed. Well done!

It's not to 'striking' to me as well. I'll give you that lol, but I didn't get too many creative ideas with a lighter inside a dorm room :P

You should have tried lighting something on fire. Since you're in college I would think like a test, homework, etc. Thats would be tricky to pull off unelss you had 3 hands though >.<

Then get fined for fire alarm... If you don't hear from me in a while, I'll be working to pay the fines!

I agree with tired, if you successfully recreated the shot you had envisioned, then you have done well, even if it isn't as striking as you hoped. I wonder if reflecting some light to the rest of the hand to give it detail would help? A piece of white paper just outside of the frame to the left and toward the camera might do the trick.

Or if you have a portable light, throw it on a blank wall or sheet or whatever, behind your hand so we can see it's outline against a relatively solid or gradiating (is this a word?) tone.

Maybe put a hand mirror on each side and do that infinity thing, you know, reflections within reflections within reflections ect...

Good Idea, I'll have to try and pull off my mirror haha. I have an old tripod I have received from my uncle, but the clip doesn't work and this is off topic but is there any way to buy a new clip? It's a ray-o-vac
