Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I recently took some pictures of my LO and all I can see is my flash and me in his eyes! Is there anyway around it or maybe someway to edit it? I tried and it looked awful... C&C welcome :)

Apologies if i'm not up on the vernacular, but does LO mean little one?

What I'm seeinig is catch lights from another source (possibly an open window or an overhead light source) and the pop-up flash trying to fill in (with the yellow cast). Catch lights in and of themselves are a good thing. They give life to the subjects eyes and should be sought after.

The little beedy yellow pin light in the eyes is another subject.... one that should be avoided IMO. Post processing can eliminate them. Curious as to why they are yellow. I don't think the white balance would do that, but hopefully someone smarter than me can answer that question.

It think they are probably yellow because the towel he was in is yellow. There is no overhead light and it was night, I used my speedlight bounced off the celling , not my pop up. I think I effed up because my husband was changing him at the time and the flash probably reflected off his bright shirt? I dont know, I'm a total noob when it comes to my flash!

So what are the little yellow dots of light source coming from? If you bounced your external, then there must be anouther dominant light source in the scene. An overhead incandescent?

Let's look at and try to figure out what is going on.

In #1 you have what looks like an open window for catch light. Beautiful, but then you have the heart shaped catchlights at the pupils. That looks odd and the left fist is a bit of a distraction.

#2 has two dots of light source reflecting.

#3 only has one....

But all three have a main light source. Figure that out and use that to your advantage.

It really was only my external.. I think I know whats going on though, i think my husband was too close.. He had a yellow shirt on! The flash I have has a little mini soft box on it... I just zoomed in 100% on the eye and I can see him in it. Even if he isnt in it I will still get a strong flash reflection and I don't know how to avoid that. Thanks for your replies :)

Always blaming the husband!!!

Kundalini: "You baby's eye's have weird catchlights in them!"

MissCream, "The yellow is from my Little One's yellow towel."

Kundalini, "No, let's get to the REAL root of the problem."

MissCream, "No,no,no: it was my husband's fault--he was wearing a yellow shirt!"
