Flash doesn't fire

Hmm, my Sony a100 does fire the flash when it is set to Fill.

Unless, your flash does not fire if the exposure is high that it thinks it is not required ??

Hmm, just looked at the Sony a230 user guide. It says:

(Fill-flash) Fires every time you trigger the shutter.

Ah ... you did not mention that it was working, then stopped working.

You did not have to be so snappy (hmm, that is possibly what is making others in this forum react to your posts in a negative manner).

Does the flash fire at all in any mode (ie Auto Flash in Auto exposure mode) ?

Reset your cameras settings to default and see if that makes a difference.

I'm more than aware of how it fires, my problem is it DOESNT fire. It was working fine before.
You have set something that is messing with your flash. The best answer is what Dee said...... reset the *****. (I added my own little kick as well.)

Sorry I thought I put that in there I'm asking multiple people about it at once haha.

I reset it, drained the battery, charged it and nothing.

Are you using an a230, a230L, or an a230Y?

If you are not familiar with your camera's features and functions, the most likely problem is user error.
