Also, sometimes den area lighting isn't very good and I might use some subtle flash to keep it from looking like a dungeon or overly noisy.
I can't tell you how many houses I've shot that have NO lighting in those formal sitting areas. Frustrating.
I once shot a large house that actually only had a candle chandelier in two different rooms. Ended up just placing two speedlights attached to the chandelier on their lowest setting, and a couple in opposite corners of the room to even things out (and not make it seem like a horror movie) ended up working out okay
