Those are excellent, sublime images.

I have lots of photos of flowers where a butterfly was sitting one second earlier - but no actual butterfly images.

Don't Monarchs migrate thousands of miles, or something equally amazing?

Thank you. I believe they head towards Mexico very soon
 
Very well taken. I'm guessing a fast lens, very fast shutter and a small aper. for the flight pics. Am I warm?

Wow sharp and well exposed butterfly in flight! That’s like finding a unicorn.
 
Fantastic shots! especially catching him wings flat, they are hard enough to catch in frame they fly so erratic.
