Where do you get your pictures printed?

How do they come out? I have a printer but the biggest I can print (I think) is 4x6

I do have a printer (and it gives me pretty good prints up to 8x10) - But I have also used Mpix a lot too...

They generally do OK. Not going to lie - they have really messed up prints a few times on me - but they fixed it quick and for free. Generally, I find that the bigger stuff (and also more expensive...) are the things they are most likely to mess up...

It sucks when they do mess up - but their customer service is pretty good.

Overall, I would not hesitate to use them again. I would not, however, use them to drop-ship to a client. IMO, they are not good enough to trust for that. 90% of the time, they are fine - but I would hate to have a client receive crappy prints just because I didn't review them first.

Various pro labs for 99.9% of the time.
Unless I need something for personal reason and need it NOW, I go to my home HP printer and do a 4x6.

Costco does a good job, at least where I shop. I customize all my photos before sending them off and always check that I don't want them to modify the images. The couple of times I have forgotten to do that I have had horrible results, especially if you have done any low or high key shots.

Another vote for Mpix.com. I've used Ritzpix.com but after sending test prints to Mpix, I was pleased with the outcome a lot better than Ritz. I was disappointed that when I tried my hand at portraits with a friend, her prints from Ritz came back with a white edge on some of the photos. It was only on one side, and not always the same side on the photos that had it. It was a small minor thing, but it irritated me. The picture quality from Mpix was sharper, the colors truer, and their gloss opposed to Ritz was more a matte, and I liked that.

I've used Staples ONCE and was severely disappointed. My HP PhotoSmart did better than their few 1000 dollar machine. You could see the ink sitting on TOP of the paper!!

Which is all pretty much all the same for the other online consumer labs, with the possible exception of the excellent customer service Mpix provides.

Be aware, an online consumer print lab is not like a consumer electronics assembly line that cranks out Nikon D90's, and nothing but Nikon D90's, all day long.

My place of employment has a decent printer that I've been known to comandeer occasionally for smallish prints.
Otherwise Mpix.

I have a decent printer but it's an ink hog (as most are) and it's way less expensive to just have my prints made at Costco. Now, keep in mind, I'm talking about hundreds of snapshot type pictures for my kids' scrapbooks. If I were a paid photographer printing images for a client, I'd find a reputable lab with quality control and all that. But for my everyday type pictures, Costco, or even walmart work just fine. And you can upload them online and just pick them up at the store. Heck, I think you can even have them shipped directly to your house for a little extra $ if you don't want to have to go get them in person.
