Former Teen Miss America

Hello!

So I finally got around to another shoot, this time with Kelly, former teem miss America. Here are a few shots. Critique welcome.

She definitely knows how to model... or at least just look good in front of the camera.

First two seem a little overexposed to me.

I like #3 and #4, but I think the crop is a little tight on both.

I'd say #3 is the best of the set. Great pose/face, good exposure, and a clean background.



If you ever shoot her again, tell her to leave those boots at home.

Agree with Braineack, the first and second need some work - overexposed, semi flat, under-saturated and unevenly (not face in first compared to leg)

The idea for number 1 is great bt the execution is lacking. What was your focal length for #1? I would came down lower and used some columns as leading lines to her body. Your composition is not very flattering to her body.

#3 is your best shot. Nice job on that.
#4 - not digging the b&w conversion and the background.

Agree with above, 3 is the best of the set. Very PRETTY model

I wouldn't say she is good at modelling she looks very lack luster

My focal length was 50mm prime... I think, unless this is when I switched lenses. I don't feel awesome about the execution either - I just couldn't figure out what would make it right! Any ideas?

Thanks for the comments so far, guys, very helpful. Though I think, Traveler, your edit is a little underexposed. And we will definitely be shooting again. What's wrong with the boots though??

They are the least sexy things I've ever seen in my life. They make her look short and stumpy, and make her appear to have fat-rolled kankles. They need to be pulled up like 3-4 inches and really don't match the rest of her attire.

I really don't like the look/trend. Maybe if she was wearing jeans, but that won't help the boots themselves; they are bad.

Lew--lay off the image correcting until you get back from vacation and onto a monitor that's somewhat close to normal...this rework looks horrifically bad!

Shot #4 DGM...did you forget to focus?

If he wasn't focused, he's got a whole other set of problems. Oh camera focused, that's another issue all together.

Love 3. All of your crops are too tight for my taste but it works in 3 imo. Face looks a bit bright in one and two compared to the rest of her but lews edit is way too dark. You need more head room mainly in these in your crops. I think that would make all the difference in the world honestly.

I'm with the crowd. The boots are the least sexy boots I've seen in a long time, my wife's boots are sexier than those things! AND they don't go with the outfit. You might get away with them if the jacket was the same colour but these two shades don't look good together and the boots are the wrong look for the dress (in my agéd opinion they'd be the wrong look for any outfit).

Apart from a crappy dress sense, she's gorgeous. Dress sense can be learned or advised upon. If I left my wife to her own choices she'd look like a bag lady most of the time. Send me the airfare next time you have a shoot with her and I'll come as fashion advisor. :smileys:ldman:

...AND I agree that #3 is very nice and the best of the lot (no boots!).

Anyone have advice for #1?
