Went out to practice today..Here's a few pics. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

2) I liked the lines on this fountain, however, I don't think I shot it correctly.

3) My two knuckleheads playing outside with a ball..

Crop the left empty side off the shot of the two knuckleheads, and it'll look better. Maybe clone in some additional faked concrete below their paws for more of a feeling of grounbd underneath them if you wanna' go the extra mile. Good spotting on the fountain details. I like the "feeling of the light and water" in the first shot. The wavy lines are interesting, but the photo's just not all that compelling on its own. Still, good practice in seeing things.

Thank you!! I see what your saying about the pics with the dogs. What would be a better way to shoot the wavy lines? I like the abstract look of them.

I agree with Derrell on these. In addition, I can't say #1 is uninteresting... but it's almost a "what-is-it" shot which loses it's appeal once you've figured it out. Perhaps using a smaller aperture to increase the dof would bring in more interesting detail on the water's surface?

Same with #2. Shot at 1.8 so you wanted us to see *THAT* specific part of the 'wavies', but other than the light, it doesn't look any more or less significant than the others. It reminds me of a similar shot I took when I first started out (not long ago) that I thought would be interesting, but it just didn't work.

After I got home I realized that most of the waves were out of focus..If I had increased my aperture, more of the waves would have been in focus, right? Sometimes I get caught up in taking pictures that I forget to pay attention to my settings.
