"Freedom" | Lots of Fog | Crazy Artist Statement

It helps to have a story with it. Because of that I like it. In fact I would like it anyways. Some once said "photograph memories, no matter what they might be" this is a great example. I have many shots I took that would be of no interest on here. Frankly offencive It some of them but they are great shots if you know the stories and meaning of the shot.

I agree--I think a story can make or break a photo.

What feeling do you get from this photo?
Dread. Foreboding.
(edit)
I would not be surprised if I am the only one on here with that reaction.

I can understand why the OP feels "calm, focus, peace" but I also see how "dread and foreboding" comes across as well. My gut reaction when I saw the photo was somewhere in between. Being near water always calms me down, so there were some positive soothing feelings I had, but I also felt isolation, sadness, and also fear of the chaos beneath the smooth but dark and possibly menacing water.

I like water too! I actually drink water occasionally.

I like "cute", friendly water, but dark, foreboding water just seems dark and foreboding to me.

I understand that. I love the Atlantic - it's fierce and angry, and that is totally scary and menacing...but somehow, that's still soothing to me. Maybe it's just my Portuguese soul ;) I need what I call "big water" to really feel better. Lakes and rivers are the minimum. Salt water is preferable, as is being within sight of the water, but as long as it's close enough for me to drive to, it's okay. By far, the most amazing, healing water I've ever spent time near (or in) is the Adriatic Sea. It's like a giant Xanex for me.

I don't think I could live in the middle of the country. I need to be near water (big water, not rivers and streams) at all times [emoji3]

This is pretty much a greyscale, but somehow it evokes an emotion of solitude and loneliness. It works, and I don't know why, but it does.
