Freeze Motion - Slow Lens and Flash?

You already know how they did this. They used flash (indoors) to freeze motion. I assure you that the cat was moving faster than 1/60th of a second! It is the flash duration that freezes movement. A full frame camera also helps in that you have a more blurred background than you could achieve with a cropped sensor camera. This isolates the subject more.

That was simply an on camera bounced and providing the exposure. Without the flash the image would have been near black. I used ttl, had manual exposure settings of 1/60 and f/4 iirc. I think the iso was bumped a bit so the flash didn't have to work hard.

Right. I think I was getting tired when I posted that. I know what bounced flash looks like. :X

The indoor/outdoor difference is going to matter the most, and the black vs beige subject. Quiet different challenges.
