Another shot by yours truly. Attempting to get better at composition and exposure. Practice makes perfect (or at least better than mediocre):

Used on-camera flash (don't have off-camera yet), held a piece of white paper over the flash to help with diffusion...

When you are shooting something so close and filling the frame, it is not required to follow the RoT's.
Sometimes your subject has it's own composition. So while your subject may be "centered", the elements or details that make up that subject now become your compositional elements.

Okay, I will take that into consideration. As a side note, I am planning on attending a "photo safari" tour of Minneapolis, Minneosota either next week or the middle of June: Midwest Photo Safari

Thank you for your insights Bitter...you along with a few key other people here are what get me to return.

The tomato in the background is quite distracting. I would put the frog either in the middle or left side of the frame, though its tough because it is looking in the opposite direction that the body is facing.

I would consider using light coming in from a window for something like this. You can use a card or white paper to reflect light to get a little fill as well.

Thank you photocist...I will take that into consideration as well...I personally find the red to be a nice compliment to the green...but I'm clinically insane...so it goes without saying...what do you mean I'm not insane? Yes I am gosh durn it...
