but please dont use pirated software because the retail versions will just get much more expensive :/
Definitely not trying to defend pirated software, but I doubt Adobe makes their bulk of profits from individuals and students. They make money from corporate clients who buy a whole bunch of CS extended packages.
Actually, if I am Adobe or any software company who wants to have a big presence in the industry that I am trying to serve, I will close one eye to students who use my pirated softwares. Why? First of all, students can't really afford the latest and greatest, yet they are the ones really pushing the boundary of creativity. The software helps them push their level of work so they can actually get a job in this extremely competitive field. When they graduate, they are already familiar with Adobe softwares, therefore creates demand(in an indirect way) within the industry to use Adobe softwares. This sounds like a crooked theory, but it's not, because it's a fact.
Many software companies can't wait to sponsor schools to use their software. One company made a deal with my college to put their software in the school's computers for free, but the school will have to uninstall all competitor's softwares.
No matter how well equipped a school is with computers and softwares, there will never be enough seats to satisfy everyone. Students don't work like 9-5 people. They work when they are not eating or sleeping or in class. They can use every second they have, so there is no fixed routine on when they get to go to the lab to use the comps. Trust me, ACCD will be a place where students will forget what sleeping feels like.
Concept Design will require high processing and graphic power computers for 3D modeling and rendering, as well as digital sketching.
One word of advice. Even though you are about to enter one of the most expensive art and design schools in the US, don't expect the school to provide for you. You are on your own.
