I just love this shot I got of my Mom (she was showing my son how to pump the swing by himself and got a bit carried away).

I thought about a tighter crop, but it didn't work. Any other suggestions?

well... you captured her nicely, but you didn't capture the "context" well. Composition doesn't work. You should include those green poles and compose in such a way to show us entire scene...

so, I'm for a wider shot

anyway jmo

That's a fun shot of her, makes you want to laugh with her.

You probably could have gone either way, a bit farther out to get in more of the swing set or maybe a vertical shot would have worked. But as is it's still good, I'd just crop below the cross bar and get that crooked thing out of your picture, and I agree I'd straighten it. Even though being a swing set it might actually be at that angle, it's such an eye catching color that one pole makes for a long angled line thru your picture.

Often if I crop a little on one side I may crop another side to keep the same overall proportion; I'd probably crop the top and the left side a little to get rid of whoever sneaked into the lower left side of your picture! I had to look close to see what that was, and to me the edge of something can just make for a distraction if you can't really see what it is and it's not adding to your composition.

My first reaction seeing this was to smile - great moment you captured, for me it'd be a keeper with just a little crop/adjustment.

I did the same thing! They said to straiten one of my photos, and I already had. Sometimes I just set with a little tilt I guess!!!:lmao:
