Gang Na Mai - B&W or color?

My mother-in-law preparing gang na mai. Which do you prefer?

To be honest, I find them both too dark; the colour slightly less so, but the bright window really pulls my eye away from the mains subject.

Color. I agree about the window somewhat but the highlights on the face and green vegetables bring me back into the composition.

I may have to try massage the file a bit more. I feel I can't bring the highlights in the window to low or it won't match the highlights on the face. Maybe I'll work on the shadows some more.

Color. Maybe desaturate just a bit.
The light from window is distracting as stated above. Maybe darken it a little.
