I found a great botanical garden that only charges $1 admission! I finally got a chance to shoot something besides snow since getting my camera!

C&C welcome, any tips for improvement are greatly appreciated.

The bright color of that bird in the first picture against the backdrop of green leaves is lovely! Been nice if you could've captured it from a different angle as to not have the branch cutting across its body and a little bit of its beak. though the branches does frame its face.

Might be me but the bird looks a little out of focus, other than that the flower pictures look great!

Bird looks a little out of focus to me too. Love the flowers!! Great job!

hello everyone

Thanks for the feedback all - the bird is a little out of focus and I wish I had the end to its beak :(

I wish they had let me take my tripod in, would have made things far easier.

and...

The photo of the bird was taken with a Tamron SP 70-300.
The flowers were all shot with a Tamron 90mm Macro.
Both were on a D200 body.

I think on-camera flash with macro is no bueno.

A nice flash system is the next thing on my list of "wants". But without one and no tripods allowed in there I felt kind of limited. Is there something else I could have done?

@Ron - Thanks I was so concentrated on the bird itself I didn't even notice the noise in my personal review of the photo :grumpy: I'll have to take some more bird shots as this one just didn't pan out.

Nice pictues! alot of pretty colors and a good variety as well! Just like others said, the bird is a little out of focus, but it's sometimes hard to catch wildlife, and maybe the white flowers picture is a little too bright. Might be just me, but it almost seems like my eyes go to that little section in the upper right where there is no flowers.

Thanks - I played around with that shot quite a bit, I have a shot with those little star things in the upper right (I think your talking about) in focus and the flowers out of focus. Still a neat shot just didn't like it as much personally. Was trying to play with DOF in this shot

nice shots! the only thing besides the bird that bothers me is the peddles in number 5 seem over exposed, but it's probably a personal preference thing. good job!

Since they don't allow tripods, bring a monopod and stick it to the man.
