Your peonies are beautiful!

My mom had pink ones that looked stunning when she floated the blooms in a glass bowl on her table. It's taking care of the shrubbery part that gets me.
wow thats a great idea... i just feel like they droop to fast.. too fragile.. so far these are doing okay because they are close to house wall ..so out of wind etc... i will have to try that.. next time centerpiece with dinner quests.. haha.. if i have any...

Take a picture for us if you do!

The peonies we brough up frpm MD have emerged but no blooms. We'll split the big one that was at the house when we bought it after blooming is done. Once split, I'll cut sod out and put in mulch.

Curious - catmint has been recommended to me, and when reading about it apparently it's a big draw for neighborhood kitties, who glory in it as if it were catnip! Yours look unmolested by this love. Have you ever noticed any cats rolling in it?
Been here 25 years and have never seen a single stray cat on our street. Maybe too busy of a road for them? Haven’t noticed any critters in the catmint besides the bees which lovey love love it. And the bunnies leave it alone which is a bonus.

I gave away all my peonies because they make a mess if left on the shrub and I can’t bring them inside because they trigger my scent sensitivity. I read somewhere that you can cut them just before they open and put them in the fridge for months and have fresh peonies when you want them.

wow thanks for this info... i have a few at this stage now.. i will try it.. and then put them in a bowl and let it float... sounds so pretty not to try

Check Google for how to refrigerate- not sure if they need to be in water or wrapped somehow. Apparently florists do it all the time.

Just make sure all of the ants are gone from them. 🐜🐜🐜

yes thats right... i remember going in and seeing all the flowers refrigerated ..thank you will do

There are some garden planners (here is a list that could give you directions) but normally I think you'd be fine just drawing it by hand and taking things like flowering time and height of plants/flowers under consideration, especially if you want pretty colors combinations and surely you don't want them taking sunlight from one another while growing@
Thank you a ton! Yes, I have a flowering composition based on colours in mind, will definitely be taking this under consideration while planting. Hence why I think I needed some planner of sorts. Thanks againg!

Lemon tree is perking up. It had lost a lot of leaves over the winter. I did a root pruning and repotted in fresh soil and put it outside. Then we had that nasty early heat wave 96° over a couple of days and it looked like it was touch and go for a minute but now that the weather has normalized and the roots are refreshed, it is bursting with blooms and baby lemons!

New clematis “First Lady”, named after Rosalyn Carter when her husband was in office. It’s currently in a small pot but this one is destined for one of the trellises along the back fence as soon as the roots beef up a bit.

The roses were being attacked by sawfly larvae and the leaves were all chewed up. I’ve been hosing them off every night to remove as many pests as I can and they seem to be rebounding.
