Yes that’s it, had a bag gifted to me, had dozen bulbs and I’ve scatter planted them all over the place.
They’re so pretty. The Boston Public Garden has an annual display of these that is amazing.

Finally caught a quick phone pic of this beauty opened up and not in harsh sun. Lots of clouds today but rain has only threatened so far.

Visited my favorite garden center yesterday. They lured me in with a coupon for $25 off $100. Challenge accepted! 😂😂😂

Picked up some salvia since the ones I tried to grow from seed were basically a bust, a panicle hydrangea “Pinky Winky” and yet another clematis (I’m obsessed). This guy hijacked a ride on our cart as we walked around.

Well, my stubbornness won out over my common sense. I single-handedly defeated this beast yesterday during a cool and breezy break in the rain. Between the giant roots, the rocks and the tangle of landscape fabric, I was thisclose to hiring someone to come and do it for me. But this way I get bragging rights and the money to buy something else to fill in this now empty spot.

Excellent job, Sharon. Want to come to my place and play with the bamboo? :biglaugh:

More weather related issues. Apparently the 70° weather stretch we had in January caused many trees to break dormancy. That was followed by the Arctic blast -40° wind chill a few weeks later which killed off all the emerging buds. The local extension office has warned of a cherry and peach shortage this year for the region due to the extreme climate swings.

My new (planted fall 2021) Kwanzan Cherry blossom tree had just 3 blooms on it this year. The flowering mystery tree in our backyard that was so gorgeous last year has about half the blossoms this year. Both trees are fully leafing out so at least they didn’t die off.
Here’s my flowering mystery tree last year in full glory outside of Princess’s window. I always thought that we had planted a flowering pear but recently was told that pear trees only have white flowers. Current guess on this one is that it may actually be another Kwanzan cherry blossom. 5/15/22

Dahlia update! I have 44 tubers to plant this weekend! The 23 that I got from Costco areall 6-12” now. Plus I ended up with another 21 after a mix up with my online order. Not sure where to put them all. I have raised beds out back that should hold 12, front bed will hold another 4-5. I have 10 grow bags and 5 large planters. The rest will need to fit in the garden beds somewhere or give away to friends.

I have Lebaron, Feencliff Illusion, Great Silence, Gallery Art Deco and a mixed bag of 11 called Lavender Blush Mix.

I’m totally winging it and really have no clue what I’m doing but I think they look good! Advice always welcome.

It was an Endless Summer Hydrangea. And no, you can fight the bamboo on your own thank you very much!

That’s a pretty planter! I like the orange and purple combos.

Thank you. I'm trying to borrow a couple pandas.

I hear that bamboo is a wonderful plant. I've seen it in Old Dallas and in Richmond, and it looks like it just overtakes everything. Looks like a great way to meet the neighbors, just plant some along the fenceline where the yards meet, especially if they have flower beds.

We (dad & I) dug it up many years ago, but the neighbors didn't. Needless to say, it came back.

There are different varieties of bamboo: some are clu, ping. meaning they don't spread. This isn't that kind.

If it were something really useful (and valuable) like Tonkin Cane), I'd make some fly rods.
