Thank you. I'm trying to borrow a couple pandas.

What will you do with the pandas?

New fence is being put up. We had a storm a couple of months back with 90MPH+ winds that pushed the fence at an angle. I decided that since the bottom was dry rotting and boards were popping, it was time to replace. The previous owner had put in the cheapest fence they could, non-kilned white pine with non-treated based boards, so everything was rotting. Decided to act before the HOA sent a letter. Once the fence is done, I can start transforming the rest of the yard into my retirement oasis. Plans for planting/xeriscaping and putting in a small koi pond, and a small gazebo or covered deck. I figure either way, it will either increase the sales appeal if we decide to move, or be my postage stamp piece of paradise. Planning on a mini-bar with a lost and found where I can place a salt shaker. And of course, the obligatory "It's five o'clock somewhere..." sign.

We have sort of restaurant booth in the basement near the bar. It's in so-so shape so I'll rebuild it. I'm planning on decor for that area to be mixed Jeep and Fire Department. I have a Jeep grill for the wall and a couple of hanging lamps made from fire extinguishers. I'm considering getting some diamond plate for the front of the bar.

Somebunny has been chomping on my echinacea. We did FINALLY see the sun this afternoon so maybe everything can start really growing now. Once the clover is in the bunnies rarely bother with anything else.

Planted 17 of the dahlias today. 6 tubers and 11 of the potted ones. I ran out of potting soil so had to switch over to seed planting. Got some cosmos and zinnias sown around the garden and then planted some of the winter sowing seedlings. - echinacea and linaria azure aka false snapdragon.

Also got the fountain up and running again.

It looks and sounds wonderful, Sharon! Water is always soothing.

We have Baltimore orioles!! I never saw one in real life before. We've been putting in ilex bushes and moving the bird feeders around and a male flew in and perched on one. Apparently they prefer high energy, sucrose laden treats at the start of the season so I ran out to get the right kind of feeder.

Terrible cell phone shots, but that's all I had nearby. The feeder has grape jelly and nectar, similar to hummingbirds.

Shortly after this, my neighborhood ducks dropped by for a visit. They love to land on the garage roof and come down to the bird feeders, one at a time. She usually goes first while he sits up there and watches.

Frustrated with the weather here. It was high 70’s the last few days. Now tomorrow night we are expecting 36-38° and I’m going to be lugging a lot of the smaller potted plants inside. I have some parsley, fennel and dill in pots and some dahlias in grow bags and planters. Also will need to cover the sprouted dahlias in the raised beds and figure out what I need to do for the two new hydrangeas I planted. It’s going to be borderline but I don’t want to risk it.

Meanwhile looks like the smaller hydrangea I transplanted to the back yard is going to bloom this year which is nice.

I had bought a 6 pack of astilbe bulbs at Costco but they never sprouted. I saw this beauty at the garden center on Sunday and snapped it up.

I decided not to do anything yet, because we'll be going out of town with one of my sons tending the house, so anything growing outside will die... :D I have a nice fallow planter to plant in, along with some grow bags I've ordered, but they will have to wait until mid-June.
