Knockout roses first bloom cycle of the season. You can see some of the phlox and salvia along the fence. I’ll give it another year and if it doesn’t “leap” in year 3 I’m going to pull it and plant something else.

I think they look wonderful, tumbling over that picket fence. Nice!

Yes I’m very happy with the roses - exactly the look I was going for. But in front of the fence is just not keeping up. And it’s such a high visibility area… it’s flourish or get out!

Crushed it today. Got my annuals and herbs planted in their pretty pots, weeded and mulched the beds along the fence, cut and edged the grass, got the fountain up and running, got the new pool set up and filled, extended one of the front beds with cardboard and mulch then planted some drift roses… was literally still gardening when the street lights came on. 😊

I sacrificed two cone flower plants, two asters and a blazing star. The rest are locked down with chicken wire. Plus I don’t use chemicals so my “lawn” is mostly clover and dandelions. They definitely won’t be going hungry.
