What a great photograph! I really like the colors.
It got so dry here that plants fizzled out early. Before that it was tons of rain. Lousy spring for gardens.
Tell it to come back in November.![]()
I can't believe you had a turkey on your roof!Garden updates:
Bunnies have invaded so I’ve had to put up some chicken wire. So frustrating. Looks meh but I was getting tired of losing all my zinnia and cone flower seedlings and having clematis stems chewed through.
Winter sown salvia - 25 seeds, 3 plants??? Poppy 25 seeds 1 plant???

Clematis climbing a rose of Sharon that I cut way back last fall. I’ll remove the trellis before next spring I think.

Turkey visitor from yesterday. Fence hopped then flew onto neighbor’s roof when I opened the back door. Didn’t know they could get so high up.

One of the only hydrangeas that has any blooms on it. I dug up one and have two others that are leafed out but no blooms.

That’s the house behind mine. That bird was really high up!I can't believe you had a turkey on your roof!
Looks like your Major Wheeler is rebounding, too. I had one bloom, and the vine looks healthy but no more flowers so far. Love your roses!
How do you keep the hungry wildlife away?I planted this little strawberry patch 15 years ago, and after 2 moves and several repottings, it's still a steady producer.

When I built the wooden planters, I also built removable cages to go over them! Simple wood frame with some plastic netting attached to let light through, but not birds, squirrels, rabbits, or groundhogs. Thanks to good metadata, I found this photo from 2018.How do you keep the hungry wildlife away?
Firearm restrictions being what they are in Canada, I'm limited to chicken wire and bird netting. Otherwise...How do you keep the hungry wildlife away?
Great job - perfect solution! I'm sure you drive the critters nuts with those gorgeous berries. When I built the wooden planters, I also built removable cages to go over them! Nicely done! I read a tip recently that some people paint small rocks to look like strawberries before their plants fruit and it fools the birds so they get annoyed at the rocks and then won’t peck at the real ones when they come in.When I built the wooden planters, I also built removable cages to go over them!
