GBH in flight

#1 one is my favorite. The background really makes the eyes and beak pop. It's the first thing your eyes are drawn to.

Lol, different kind of flying :)

Are you a bird photography specialist? Those picture are awesome. I agree with runnah. The first one is the best.

Are you a bird photography specialist?

I think I fall into that category :) About 99% of my time is stalking birds. Check my flickr... I hate people so I choose not to photograph them. Some bugs are cool, so once in awhile I throw my macro lens on :)

CC, these are great - up to your usual standard which, IMO, is fast becoming the standard for this forum. 3 - good, 2 - better, 1 - best. You have the eye and head very sharp, which is what good bird photographers strive for. Are you familiar with Art Morris and his work? If not, you might want to google him - "birds as art" - he is an excellent bird photographer. Would you care to share your gear that you used for these.

Coastal I love your photos! I too am from Ct. I grew up in Milford. What is your favorite lens to shoot with?

Thank you everyone! As far as equipment, I'm on the bottom end of what real "birders" would shoot. I have an old Nikon D300 that I purchased from KEH in June for $550. My lens is a Tamron 200-500 F5-6.3. I found it locally for a little over $400 in January. I have no VR (IS,VC whatever camp you are in) and I always shoot handheld. Maybe some day I can upgrade to a 500 F4, but I honestly don't see that happening. For the price, I do't think there is anything that can compete with the lens, and it can be very sharp. I sent it in for service a few months ago and when I got it back the focus ring was a little tight, but now that I have been using it almost every day it seems to be performing better than ever..

I hope you don't take offense when I say that you make me sick ;)

I spend a lot of time stomping around the woods to but your photos are on a higher plain than mine are. Very well done.

I like #2 the best, then #3, and then #1. Nice!

Thanks everyone
@SCraig No offense taken :)
I've been known to muck through low tide to find my birds. I know you understand, but in the beginning, I didn't understand how much time it really takes to get shots like these. At least when I drank I spent more time at home and slept a lot more :)
