Costalcon and I did a swap on lenses. I received the package and up it as fast as I could and threw the box in the corner. I then took some pictures and was very pleased. I then went on a vacation trip out west and started noticing the focus was off (element from our guessing). So I told costalconn when I get back abut it and we tried doing all the stuff to make sure it wasn't user error. So we thought to at least give it a try to see if the post office would replace this, even though he has a warranty on the lens (even though he let me know he would swap back regardless). so here is what is taking place on what to do if you received a product that is damaged and you know it is not the person who you did business with..........
1. get insurance on your shipment. you think it's ten dollar more and you think of how you never got anything broken in mail.... well think again, it will sadly happen one day. so cough that ten bucks up.
2. have it shipped where you HAVE to sign for it.
3. when the buyer recieves, fully inspected before you sign. if any small ding or hole is in the box, take a picture and let the postal person know about it before you sign.
4. if your product does end up being damaged. then go fill out a claim. (usps has you do it online. the others I am not sure about). .... be prepared it is a lengthy form.
5. you will need to supply pictures of the box and the problems caused.
- example. the box that I received has a hole in the side (fork lift hole). then we will add pictures of his work that shows it is in focus. and then show pictures of how it is out of focus for me.
6. sadly all this work might not help if you have a damged product. but at least try.
costalcon and I are not sure if it will work or not. but we are at least trying, regardless he still has a warranty on it.
Also a big thank you to costalcon for being a great person to buy from.
