getting into nude/model photography

For this type of genre, basically any camera body will make do because it's all about lighting. That's gonna be where the money shot will land. The second major will be glass, then the camera body. Also, if you're wanting to convert to B&W (assuming you'll be digital) something like Nik Silver efex pro software is the dog's bo!!icks for conversion. I've been tempted to buy, but haven't yet.

This is my first, of hopefully many, posts in this forum. It seems like I've found the right place for my queries!

I am lucky enough to be dating a person confident and adventurous enough to want me to take photographs of her in the nude. I've personally always had an interest in photography, even owning a DSLR for a brief period that I unfortunately had to sell off before I started learning how to use it. The idea strongly excites me and I am certain I want to try my luck with photography again.

I'm interested in Black and White photography mostly (think of the artistic, heavily shadowed variety often discussed here and not stock porn stuff!)and I'm seeking everything from advice on the best way to learn to what kind of Camera to buy. I've been told before that the best way to learn is to practice (hah, like most things), and i fortunately already have a muse.

I would say that my actual understanding of core photography concepts is nonexistant, although I was getting better at composition just by trying to take lots of photos. The camera I had previously was a Nikon d3000, would that one be suitable for what I'm trying to do (or going with DSLRs in general to learn on). Silly as this may seem, I've always tried to tinker with the settings on the camera and never got the black and white effect I was looking for. Can someone point me in the right direction in terms of books, tutorials, etc. to get me started with B&W photography?
