Getting into photography - Buying my first digital camera

Hey everyone!

I'd like to consider myself an artist - I sketch, play music, write literature & poetry - and I've always deeply admired and respected the art of photography as well. I wanted to give it a shot, but never really got to it; up until now, that is. I decided if not now, when? I want to start out small and see how that goes. Of course, it didn't take a lot of time for me to realise my phone's camera simply can't fulfil my ambitions. And now I'm looking to invest in a new digital camera. I'm into photographing urban (streets, cities) and rural, outdoor scenery (mountains, forests, fields). I'm not as interested in portraits. I did my research and decided I think I'll go for a "DSLR-like" compact camera. I found these three from amazon.co.uk which satisfied all my criteria and thought I should ask other photographers about their advice.

- Samsung WB100
- Olympus SP620UZ
- Panasonic Lumix LZ20


Which one would you suggest? And of course, if you've an other one in mind, I'm more than willing to hear your opinions! My budget's <130 euros (less than 170$).

My only advice is not to get a bridge camera. If you find that you are interested in photography you will soon regret your purchase as their are many restrictions. Instead go for an older dslr such as the canon 350d. You could probably find a used one with kit lens for under $200.

I originally wanted to get a bridge camera like you. However, I found a 350d dirt cheap and I'm so glad I chose dslr over bridge-camera.

^^Yes. I would look to buy used if needed and get a more flexible DSLR. I've been really enjoying photography as a hobby since I started a few months ago and am already expanding my gear. If you find you enjoy the art, you'll quickly find yourself wanting to upgrade your body in my opinion. As far as reviews of the three cameras you linked to, I'm sorry I can't help there. Just wanted to toss in my $0.02.
