Headed out with some photographer friends for a quick adventure at Point Reyes National Seashore here in California, my first trip to the spot despite living in this state my entire life. Ended up climbing up some cliffs, and when I looked down I had this great scene laid out perfectly for me already. Sunset was lacking, but the water textures really started to shine through at the beginning of blue hour!

Thanks! I've been toying with the leveling a bit, it seems that even though the horizon is straight, the receding point really makes it feel like it isn't. Still trying to correct that.

Also, I accidentally put this in people photography. Any way I could get it moved to General? Sorry :/

I don't think you can actually see a horizon line here, so I'm wondering what you are calling the horizon. Sometimes you just take what clues are available. In this case; I leveled the distant water and clouds, thinking that clouds like those are going to be pretty much the same distance above the water. Here is my version which is rotated CCW 0.7 degrees.

I'm referring to the patch of ocean on the left hand side of the frame, and the land immediately to the right of that, thinking that since the shot had a distortion-correction profile applied to it those areas are probably as close to level as it gets. I'll give it another look when I get home

Beautiful! Have you considered integrating people into your landscapes? Not to say this shot needs people, but your portraiture is also very good, and I think you could create some epic "landscapes with people" type shots.

It looks like people dive into that center spot. Was this locational really as quiet as the picture contends? If not, great job. For one it looks shallow, so just ignore this. I read the replies and thought I should comment. Very Sci-Fi.

I have considered it, and hope to, possibly even this weekend! Ever since I moved I've been largely separated from the model base I built up previously over a few years. Tons of great, beautiful people totally willing to sit on a rock and get soaked, but no more. Now I only get to do those shoots when I don't have engagements, and I can't risk having a happy couple get washed away so early in my career, haha!

Just playing with cropping. It seems to bring out the necessary foreground better. In my view the un-cropped seemd to be two separate 'pictures'...a bottom one with motion, and a static one above.

I appreciate you giving it a go! That said, what you described as for the static and motion-based parts of the image being in one is exactly why it was framed the way it was. I'm not interested in just the water, or just the coastline. Instead, I prefer to look at where the two meet

Just like in this one. If there's any style to my landscapes, that "meeting point" is it, haha
