Comments/criticisms wanted. A friend of mine asked me for a large print of this. Wondering if it's worth doing.

Not bad, would have been ideal for HDR! I might mess with it some, see if I can come up with anything. I like it though

I went alittle different direction... I dont think my edit, did anything different really, I added some cool filter, try and get a tiny bit more blue. For the people always trying to take HDR, this would have been good in HDR. Still a cool shot though, just a bit underexposed.

I have a block against most photo hosting sites (flickr, photobucket, etc.) at work, so I'll check out your edit when I get home.

As far as underexposure, that was intentional. I set the exposure down 2 full stops. HDR wasn't really an option. That was taken with a Canon P&S on-the-fly, and I don't have powerful PP software (I use Picasa) because most of my work is done in film.

I have noticed some of your photos from different locations. They are really nice locations. Are these images from upstate NY?

I like the mood you are setting with this image. Like the others have stated, multiple images of this would give one a lot of ways to finalize the exposure. Nice job!

That one was taken near an albatross and penguin preserve on the Otago Peninsula outside of Dunedin, New Zealand.

Thanks. I have a couple shots that I took of the same scene with normal exposure if anyone wants to play with that. All this was done hand-held, so they won't match up exactly.

Wow, that image sings. Exactly the type of shot I would seek out. I did a little edit and it is just based on personal preferences, not any deficiency in the original image. I didn't notice the land pier extending into the water and thought it adds a nice line to the image. I love your misty, atmospheric layers of hills. Definitely worth printing.

A word of caution, this is done on my laptop at work which tends not to give me the best colour or exposure when I then look at it on a calibrated monitor:

Thanks for the kind words. And I like your edit; it makes the birds a bit more noticeable and adds depth to the image. I can tell I have to level it slightly.

 Like this edit a lot!

Cheezus that original is awesome! What a grand view! Thank you so much for sharing this.

Here's the same general scene, different shot, slightly more exposure.
