this is my first ever photo shoot of this manner. There is a twist its my sister in law. How should i act. We are usually like joking around with each other when we hang out. Shes worried she wont be able to take it seriously with me. Should i be all professional just like i am with my other shoots or should i just act normally just to make her more comfortable.
Also all i have is an sb900 with an umbrella setup will this be enough, or do i need some natural lights. I ask because im trying to decide what time of the day we should do this.

Hi
Welcome to a fantastic new world of photography! My wife and I are lucky in that we often get asked to do boudior shoots. Just thought I would drop in an idea

Many shops that sell equipment for science experiments sell lamps with a single long filament. They produce a beautiful soft golden glow and are relatively cheep. (most school laboratory have these if you can organize to borrow)

They are the lamps used to show interference patterns in light through diffraction grating.

Honestly what is your problem. Grow up u child. I didn't say nude I said boudoir. Also my wife will be there as well. You say you would avoid people like me but here you are going out of your way. You should change your name from ghache to douche.

YOU JUST CALLED ME A DOUCHE.:lmao:

not saying that you are just that it would be more fitting

I do a lot of boudoir shoots. Some of them were close friends and they were shy and scared it would be awkward. I was very professional with them, the same as I am with my regular clients. Research poses and know what you both want out of the shoot before you go into it. A lot of the time I find clients will either have no idea what they want or if they do know they wont know how to explain it so go in there with a ton of ideas! Make sure NOT to show her any of the shots straight out of camera and make sure that you have good skin smoothing skills in PP.

As far as lighting I use two 300w strobes and sometimes just one. I always do the shoots at night (or if I don't I make sure the room is totally dark) and rely on my modeling lights (which you don't have so I guess this isn't any help lol) to let me know where the flash is going to hit. Where are you going to shoot it?

Oh and tuck it in lol.

Haha I'm sure my clients would LOVE that :er:

I could add all sorts of jokes about the awkwardness after the shoot but as Schwettylens says, "No photos-never happened".

lol tuck it in come on now I work in a casino with showgirls I think I can handle myself. I'm more worried about her being awkward around me. I was actually thinking of using continuous lighting because Im very new to strobes. How does 3 26w cfls under a soft box sound. I was thinking of doing 2 of those at 45° angles. Its gonna be in her room with no windows. Would I need a back light as well.

I did a Boudoir shoot with Schwettylens the other day. He was really proffessional and made me feel beautiful. :lmao:

Unfortunately I signed an agreement not to post it online. Ghace is very flexible.
