Good amateur entry level DSLR?

I'm really looking forward to getting the SX120IS and certainly will take full advantage of its capabilities once I have it. And im not too worried about what everyone will have to say, cause I know I will definitely have fun taking the pictures and above all, I know my pictures will improve with time and hands on experience at the very least.

Thank you :)

Look for a used D40 or somehting. Fun, cheap, and easy to use.

you can definitely find something for under 500$, couple of months ago i sold my D3000 kit on ebay for 430$ and ther is tons of kits right now for sale(D40,D60,D3000,D5000), or try like adorama, amazon etc...

If you REALLY want a $300 DSLR (new) and simply cannot save up more, look into the Sony alpha entry level cameras. I think the alpha 230 is around $300. However, you can also find used entry level Nikons and Canons for around $400.
