good canadian photography schools

I'm interested in persuing a career in photography and I'm curious as to what the better schools are in Canada. I dont know what type of photography I'd like to do, I think a newspaper job would be my first choice. I want to go to a school that is taken seriously in the field so I have a better chance of getting a job when I graduate. Am I starting in the wrong place? should I be trying to get an apprenticeship or something like that first? Im very confused on the topic as you can tell. Oh, also what types of pre-requisites are involved? I didn't take art in highschool, just finishing highschool I've been interested in photography so I'm afraid I wouldn't get accepted to a good school, I'm 18 so I could go back and get a few credits if that would help any. Thanks for any help, I've tried searching this but all that I can find is Int. Acadamy Of Design and Devry, and the only time I've heard of those schools was on TV commercials, so that can't be a good sign. Thanks again in advance,
