Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I know this question was asked before, but I can't find a comprehensive answer.

I want to photograph my 1 week long trail, geotag each photo and eventually have also compass headings information with the photo. I would like to be able to make a "fast forward" view of the 50 miles trail in several minutes, also with gps information on a map. I want to be able to process the position information myself(so have it in a text file), not have it embedded in the video.
I think the best would be for the camera to take a photo every second or few seconds than to have a 30fps video, because i would like the photos in higher resolution to be able to edit the "fast forward" better, and not to waste battery and memory on a lot of "look exactly the same frames".
I think of the following options:
- buy a gopro(well several, to have different angles) and a separate gps device. A battery would last more than 3hours on a gopro in 1 second photo shooting mode and the dedicated gps will have a good battery life itself, but i will have to carry multiple items and maybe have some problems synchronizing them. do you know what gps device can i use to have also compass data logged?
- buy a contour+2, but that does not log gps data for photos, only for videos.
- buy a waterproof and freezeproof cannon d20, and install chdk to make it intervalometer. But i don't know what would the battery life be with gps turned on and what's the fastest speed for intervalometer.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks a lot!

If by compass data you mean the coordinates, I think that should be taken care of with GPS, right? Or am I mistaken?
