Two things for me. First is it looks over-processed. Some may like that and to me some images lend itself to that. But this one doesn't work that way for me. That leads me to the reason why, the shallow DOF. Since the dog by the title is supposed to be an important part of the image the focus at him is soft due to the 2.8 aperture. If he is supposed to be a primary part of the image (based on the title) IMO he should be in clear focus.
