I like the concept here, that is the `almosts` silhouettes and the light from the tree; I think the first could be improved with a higher shutter speed to reduce the overall ambient somewhat and then a low-power, gelled speedlight in the tree. The second just has too many distractions IMO.

I really prefer the full body but I completely agree about the distractions. It was a kinda tight space to get, but I prob could have figured something to eliminate at least some.

When I was browsing old forum posts, I saw that someone's signature line was

"Photography is 1% inspiration, and 99% moving furniture..."

I'll bet Grandma is totally in love with them and they definitely made me smile especially the second one.

There's something I find a little troubling about them...oh, I know what it is. It's the fact that "Grandma" looks like she's YOUNGER than *I* am! :lmao: That's a trend I've noticed in grandmas lately, and I can't say as how I'm very pleased with it.

I like the idea of these, and I think they will be very special memories for all of you as the years pass. Not award-winning perhaps, but not everything NEEDS to be award winning.
The first one is my favorite, mostly because the distractions are kept to a minimum, but somehow, FOR ME, the close-up one conveys a sense of the wonder of Christmas that I just don't feel in the second one.

Haha.. I'm sure she'd be pleased to hear she's looking youthful! She'll be 55 in a few weeks.
