What's new

Grass is greener on the other side

It's a funny reversal where Newbies ask Canon or Nikon and the pros are pondering µ43rd or X-system or E-mount.
It's because the smaller stuff is getting so much better.

It's also typically because the "pros" are pondering a second system to compliment the DSLR setup. DSLRs are fantastic, but they are also bigger and bulkier - even crop sensor and especially if you want to use good glass in front of the camera.

So these smaller format setups are ideal - they present the same quality, controls and features of a DSLR, but in a package smaller and more suitable for mobile and family shooting where its taking on a size more akin to the point and shoot and bridge camera markets.

It's an ideal market niche for photographers who often find they leave the DSLR at home when not going out on a "photo trip" because it just gets lugged around and doesn't do much - ergo they just can't happy-snap. Slip a smaller camera into their hands and they can happy snap away and stow the camera away easily and without it being a bulk or heavy thing.
This is what I am loving about the a6000 it will literally fit in my coat pocket. I carry it around with a Nissin i40 in a very small case. It has been with me every day for the past month and I've gotten shots I would have never gotten with my dSLR because the dSLR would be at home and not with me. The best camera you own is the one you have in your hands at any given time.

Do what you feel like. Just assume that the Fuji X series is better than the Nikon D800 how much money does it cost you to do the switch? I know there are smart people that can do that for free as they can sell their camera high and buy the new system low. But likely it would cost you and is the price really worth it?

Who is talking about switching? plus I have D810 not a D800. There are times when the massive 36Mp is needed...and times when I'm on Vacation when I want something portable.

Exactly, I'm not switching, I'm just adding more toys.................lol...........:)

Why buy a D810 if you dread carrying it around ditch it for the Fuji

because my D810 is my working camera...the one that makes money.
It's a lot less fun to carry around when on Vacation.
