How to make a gray background - black - white - or some other color.

That is the most useful video I have ever watch on the subject!

Several of us have recommended gray seamless paper for a background many times, and noted gray could easily be made other colors.

When I found this video I saw it explained very clearly how that could be done.

I was about to order a blank and a white backdrop, now ill order a gray one!

Does the gel flash trick work for richer colors? I assume if you power down the flash you can get more of a darker richer color?

Thinking mostly for a dark almost navy blue.

The more intense the colour of the gel and the lower the power the flash (to a point of course) the richer the colour.
 
you have to make sure you still feather the light OR you have to have the subject sit far from the background so the main light does not hit the background as well.
