grease for ball leveler

I have a question as to what kind of grease to buy for lubricating a ball leveler.. I can't seem to find this info anywhere. I have an old model
Manfrotto #138 leveler ball 3/8
i'm guessing the grease is the same for anything like this.. it has a bowl and ball that feels a bit try.. thanks!

I would use a white lithium grease, but if the leveler isn't moving smoothly without grease, something else may be wrong.

Once you put grease in there, you're going to have to do routine maintenance to the leveler. The grease will hold any dust, dirt, metal shavings from use of the leveler, etc that comes in contact with it.

I think a dry Teflon spray would work better since it would be less likely to attract dirt. It is frequently used on motorcycle chains and it work quite well. If can be found at mose Lowes hardware stores.
