4 - This is why you should shoot in raw - learn from my mistake!

I posted the last shot as an example as why you should shoot in raw. Sometimes I forget to check my settings. I was shooting a cormorant before this and cranked my EC to +1.7 trying to get some feather detail. Of course I forgot to turn it back. I had enough light that this shot should have been at 1/500th sec. Because of my error it was only at 1/160th. It is not as sharp as I would normally post. I ended up with a panning effect. Because I shot it in raw I could dial back my exposure and still get an ok image...

Nice shots - really like the last one with the panning to get the BIF.

Thanks Fine, Western and Josh!

Raw is the whole exposure like no camera editing done am i right?

you fail before sucsess

Raw is basically a digital negative. Jpeg is the interpretation. That is a very simple summary. It leaves more room in processing to adjust white balance, recover highlights and shadows...

I really love the last one and the second one. Where did you take these shots?

I mostly shoot on or near the beaches of old saybrook. Thanks for all the great comments everyone
