There's been one in the park across the street for some time. Love to hear him hooting in the early morning. But Saturday morning, there were two hanging out.

GHO are really cool! They really don't like to cooperate with cameras though They always seem to be backlit or in the shadows. Really nice shots, I know how hard they can be! Personally, I would try to remove some of the CA/PF in the first one and maybe a tighter crop if

Like them both. I still haven't found any myself.

The stuff around the twigs is partially motion blur. This was an HDR. Had to, because of the backlighting, and low light in the early morning. Some of the "Chromatic aberration" is the yellow sunlight form the eastern horizon. I tried to minimize the HDR look, but you can't do it complelely and still get the dynamic range that's necessary.

This guy lives in the park across the street from my house. I go to sleep listening to him hoot. This weekend, a second owl showed up. I was out with the dog, and I spotted the owl in his favorite tree, as a dark shape. Walking over, something went right over my head, a big dark shadow, silent as a ghost. A second owl, which landed near him. If it had been another male, there would have been blood on the branches.

Later that morning, as the dawn lit things up, I went back and found them in that tree.

Nice shots, especially the first one. He almost looks surprised.

these are great! wish I could find some more owls around here. I'm sure they're around, I just haven't found many.

The first one is a keeper for me. I really like it. The background in the second one is distracting and busy for me and I know there isn't much you can do to change that. lol Why can't they ever land where we want them to.
