Great Spotted Woodpecker

Up at RSPB Loch Garten at the weekend, sadly the ospreys didn't show but a few woodpeckers which are lifers for me and I've been wanting to see a woodpecker in the wild for some time now. So still a good day. They had feeders up around the hide, so birds were plentiful there (more to follow...) but getting a shot without the feeders was challenging. Interestingly enough the woods around there were very quiet, I suspect there were a couple of ospreys about but not showing as the place was eerily quiet.

Very nice! Particularly the 1st. Congrats on a lifer.

Thanks mate, luckily there was some dappled lighting coming through the trees and there was just enough of an angle from one of the viewing holes in the osprey centre to get a clear shot. the main view of the birds was through a glass door and while I don't mind 3rd party glass I'm not fond of double glazing!

I like #1. I have been half heartedly trying to get hummingbirds without feeders in the shot this year.
